ITAA Team Reports STATE TEAM – Thea Chalow and Beth Smith -Arizona legislature working to pass vouchers for private schools as well as voter suppression laws.Arizona is leading the nation on voter suppression bills in the system. Of the 1,600 bills introduced, 1,000 have been thrown out. - Finchem asking his followers to get active in RTS because so many progressives register their opposition to Republican bills. - U.S. Supreme Court to hear arguments for and against the voter suppression laws in Arizona. - With the legislature being dominated by Republicans, the voucher bill is likely to pass. - Ducey is asked to get involved. People should start writing to Ducey to veto voter suppression and voucher legislation. - Recall effort against Finchem is being resuscitated.If you would like to get involved, the organizer’s email is [email protected]. - A billboard against Finchem is still a possibility. Funds are being raised by the Pima County Democratic Party. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR – Jacolyn Marshall -Welcome to the team new members was held on February 28, 2021.4 new members have joined.There is now a total of 33 members to the team. -17 letters from the team have been published since January. -Tricia Sauer will post a hyperlink to the letters for statewide Indivisible organizations. -Jackie requested that those who have had letters published to please send her thehyperlink to the letter. Social Media – Helen Herziger -Helen did a slideshow presentation on voting rights and how to effectively talk tosomeone whendiscussing voting rights.Her slide presentation is on the ITAA website under media and messaging. -Contact information for ITAA social media: facebook.com/indivisbletucsonactionalliancetwitter#indivisbletuc www.indivisbletucson.org FEDERAL TEAM – Jan Counts and Karen Harris -Jan and Karen are actively participating with the Indivisible State Federal team.The state team has scheduled a Zoom meeting with Kyrsten Sinema staff for March 11th to discuss her positions on current proposed legislation and the filibuster.The goal is to schedule a meeting with Sinema directly. -The team is working on securing a meeting date with the staff of Mark Kelly. -The state federal team is actively monitoring the status of HR1 and HR51. -Progressive Democrats in Congress are actively lobbying Biden to add 4 seats to the Supreme Court and 2 new Federal Judge positions.

-Dana, Sally and Misty are members of the state redistricting team. Dana advised that redistricting has been delayed due to the lateness of obtaining census data.Theprocess is now slated to be completed by mid-February. -Jacolyn Marshall and Chris Hawkins will meet with Dana on establishing a donornetwork for ITAA which will address donors who support candidates such as Finchemand Gosar.There would be pressure put on donors to stop funding these candidates.
