The 2022 midterms are here. MAGA Republicans have spent the last two years passing laws to make it harder to vote in states across the country and stoking a right-wing authoritarian movement to usher themselves back into the majority. They’ve attacked our capitol, our rights to abortion and contraception, and our public schools — immoral crusades designed to sow division, radicalize moderate voters, and build political power. And it’s working: right now, MAGA is on track to win because they are in control of defining what this election is about. In order to fight back, we need to be the ones determining what this election is about. And the answer is clear: we need a national referendum on the dangerous radicalism and unpopular views of resurgent MAGA Republicans. We need to ensure their extremism is front and center in the minds of voters. We need to go on offense. We’ve seen that organized opposition can not only successfully defend against these attacks, but has the potential to flip the script — just take Michigan State Senator Mallory McMorrow’s viral speech; this poll from Pennsylvania that shows when voters learn about Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick’s anti-choice views, his support drops like a rock; or the school board members who went on offense and beat MAGA anti-CRT candidates in New Hampshire.
