Postcards!
People who have expressed an interest in writing postcards with fellow Indivisibles have had their email addresses tagged in our Mailchimp database. The next time an email goes out to Postcarders, we will also notify the general membership, and if you did NOT get the postcards email but you want to be on the postcards team, send an email to [email protected] and we will add you to the list.

A letter to the Postcards team: ITAA Postcard Team - Let's Do This!
Email sent 2025-04-20 Greetings my fellow postcard warriors! My name is Shari Plapp and I have agreed to take over the ITAA postcard team from the brilliant Jan Counts and Cindy Bordelon. I want to thank them and acknowledge their tireless efforts to get folks registered, inform voters of important deadlines, and helped get Democrats elected to office. As Jason Belin says on FT6 calls, "we are the superheroes here to save democracy!" Please keep my contact info at the end! I would like one of our current foci to be the CD-07 race that is heating up after the passing of Rep. Raul Grijalva. As some of you may know, Rep. Grijalva's illness prevented him from voting since February of 2024. As a resident of that district, I definitely feel under-represented and completely ignored by my Republican LD-16 "reps." As of the filing deadline for candidate submissions, 5 Democrats and 2 Republicans are vying for the spot. There are also two independent candidates. There is some ITAA Leadership chatter about inviting the candidates to come speak to our group - stay tuned for more info. Important dates to remember for this special election: deadline to register to vote is 6/16. Special primary election early voting starts 6/18, with voting day 7/15. General primary election early voting starts 8/27, with voting day 9/23. At this time, I am unsure about what exactly our campaign will look like for this special election - stay tuned! If you haven't already, I would highly encourage you to use your voice in other ways. There is always RTS (Request to Speak) with the Arizona Legislature to voice your opinion on upcoming bills. Please contact your state & federal representatives either by emailing them or calling them - the easiest way is using 5calls.org. This app can be used on your phone or logged in on your computer to list 50+ current issues of concern. The app provides a brief description of the issue, a talking script, and provides your representatives' phone numbers. Easy peasy! I know with the coming months, protesting in the heat will become more and more problematic, so here are some easy ways we can still be warriors of democracy from our air conditioned homes! ;0) I have also written postcards for FT6 and wrote letters with Vote Forward in the past. Text banking is also a relatively easy way to reach voters! When we do have our postcard campaign up and running, I will need a point person on the east side of town to help distribute, so I am asking for a volunteer for that. I live west of I-10 off El Camino del Cerro, so I'm planning on having my distribution for the NW/Oro Valley folks around the Tucson Mall area instead of the Riverfront Park as before. Thank you for all that you do to help protect democracy!! Get those invisible capes on, pens ready, and let's do this! Together, we can make a real difference! Yours in Democracy, -- Shari Plapp P.S. If you do NOT want to get emails for Postcarders, send an email to [email protected] and ask to be removed from the Postcards Team. This will NOT remove you from the main ITAA mailing list. |
