If you care about free-speech, if you care about Democracy, you've likely heard about Disney's CEO Bob Iger and co-chair Dana Walden made the decision to pull Jimmy Kimmel Live! off the air indefinitely after Trump administration FCC Chair Brendan Carr threatened ABC licensing. WE THE PEOPLE stood up and pushed back. We made our voices heard and within a short period of time Disney (as well as Sinclair and Nextstar) got the message loud and clear and quickly got Kimmel back on the air.
While Kimmel is back on the air it is important to understand that Disney, ABC and others will likely continue to capitulate to authoritarian pressure tactics to save their bottom line. Are the shows they produce really worth helping fund these types of businesses? Especially when there are so many other forms of entertainment.
We need to all start understand that to save our country from the power of corporations who only care about profit, we need to continually support better alternatives. Boycotting is great to get the attention of a company, but a long-term lifestyle change toward supporting smaller businesses who stand with WE THE PEOPLE and democratic principles is what we need for long-term success.
