Don’t BuyIt has a double-meaning call to action to:
WHERE:
In every wallet and pocketbook across the country!
HOW:
1) Limit purchasing to discretionary spending (buy only what you truly need). When thinking of purchasing, first ask can I live without this, find it used, borrow it or delay purchasing it?
2) Shift as much spending as possible away from BIG business (think businesses owned by America's Oligarchs like Jeff Bezos/Amazon and Elon Musk/Tesla/Starlink).
3) Have fun finding new local opportunities to find what you need while also helping to build a stronger community and local economy that protects our democracy from the take-over by oligarchs. Shift purchasing and investment dollars towards locally-owned businesses, B-Corps, Co-Ops, employee-owned businesses, and most importantly businesses that operate in alignment with your democratic values and principles.

WHY:
To save our democracy we need to fix our broken economic system. A system that enriches the American oligarchs who use their wealth to destroy our democratic principles. We must send a clear message that "we the people" collectively have the power to either negatively or positively impact businesses and thus the owners and stock holders who derive their wealth from those businesses. Targeted boycotts of specific companies are a very impactful tool. We do need boycotts and we also need to be actively building something better, instead of just fighting against the powers that be. We must build a bright new economy if we want a thriving democratic society.
WHY NOW:
After No Kings2 we need to put our energies toward a collective action that will make the pillars of support of this regime take notice and do a course correction. We do not have to wait for the ballot box in November 2026 to vote. Be a citizen over a consumer every single day. Vote with your dollars!
We all saw how effectively this type of economic collective action can work. Disney/ABC capitulated to the threats of the FCC and sidelined Jimmy Kimmel. We the people spoke! They lost millions of subscriptions and billions in stock value. They quickly changed course and put Kimmel back on the air.
November is typically the start of the biggest shopping season of the year. This is a prime time to make our voices and the financial power behind them heard. Please join us!
